Now click the File tab and make sure the file path in the Location section points to the i Tunes folder on the external drive, not to the old i Tunes folder on your Mac.
If you choose to prevent i Tunes from copying files to the i Tunes Media folder when adding items to your library, copying the entire i Tunes folder to an external drive won’t copy the referenced media files that live outside of the i Tunes folder.
That’s where i Tunes’ library consolidation feature comes to the rescue.
Step 5: Click OK to close the i Tunes Preferences window.Step 18: You can now free up storage by trashing the original i Tunes folder on your Mac.Moreover, you can safely delete files added to i Tunes when the option “Copy files to i Tunes Media folder when adding to library” was disabled because the library is now consolidated and everything should live inside the i Tunes folder. If you like this article, check out i Download Blog’s i Tunes how-to archive. Please consider sharing this tutorial on social media and submit ideas for future how-to coverage at [email protected] Download
