On January 22nd 1967, Abbe Lane performed a Spanish language version of "Spanish Flea" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show' (she sang it a medley with "Call Me" and "La Bamba")...One year earlier on March 13th, 1966 Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass's version of the song entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; and on April 10th, 1966 it peaked at #27 (for 2 weeks)...The song acts as the opening and closing music to the Fangraphs audio podcast, hosted by Carson Cistulli and it had been used as a YTP source as well as the closing music for Low Limit Futbol hosted by Joe Uccello, Ben The Machine Agombar, Mike Orr and Roberto Rojas. It was mashed up with American rapper Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot" on You Tube. If you choose yes, he girates his lower torso to the melodious song of Spanish Flea. In this touching masterpiece, a pink blob with eyes, a belly button and a pair of underpants says that he doesn’t have any arms or hands, but that doesn’t stop him from dancing, then asks if you’d like to see him dance.Julius Wechter himself, with his Baja Marimba Band, recorded the song on the 1971 album As Time Goes By.

When people (mostly Americans) usually hear "Spanish Flea," the initial reaction is that it's "the Dating Game show theme." The song, and this version of it, was in fact used for many years as the theme song of the popular television show.
But before that, it was a huge Top 40 hit in its own.
IMDB says the show also used the Herb Alpert songs “Whipped Cream” for the “Girl’s entrance theme,” and “Lollipops and Roses” when the winning bachelor was announced.
